Thannithode Grama Panchayat is one of the prominent village panchayats under the Konni Block Panchayat in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. Nestled along the foothills of the Western Ghats, the region is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, rich forest resources, and agricultural wealth.
In earlier times, Thannithode was entirely covered by dense forests. Over the years, as migration to the hilly regions increased, people from different parts of Kerala settled here, transforming the area into a thriving rural community. Agriculture became the foundation of the local economy, with the cultivation of rubber, black pepper, coconut, and other crops contributing significantly to the region's economic development.

Since the formation of the Grama Panchayat, substantial progress has been achieved in road infrastructure, drinking water supply, healthcare, education, sanitation, and the implementation of the Haritha Keralam Mission. The dedicated efforts of the Haritha Karma Sena and the successful execution of scientific waste management initiatives are among the Panchayat's most notable achievements.
